The Central Government has lauded the proposal to amend the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2006 to provide free education to children up to the age of 18 years. The government has said in this regard that it has to talk to the states on the issue and the central government will fulfill its full responsibility. The information was given by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in response to a question from Congress member Manish Tiwari.

Tiwari said the 2006 law provides free education to children up to the age of 18. Due to which the school is demanding fees from them at present on reaching 8th standard and they have to face difficulties.
